This 2019 year the Foundation budgeted to give $10,000 each to the Athletic Department, Senior Class programs and activities, and Other School Activities. Support for athletics included equipment and supplies for all sports. Senior Class members could apply for $5000 in Foundation scholarships, and received money for Project Grad. Other School Activities included tee shirts for Freshmen Orientation programs and supplies for activities, programs and events that teachers and advisors plan and organize for students.
With the leadership of President Art Fujita, the board works closely with the school principal Tommy Cox to identify and discuss the needs of the students, teachers, coaches, and advisors . The board would then decide on the amount of the grant and the specific use of the money given. Foundation grants are given for equipment, supplies, to cover registration fees and other costs for events and activities.
The Foundation would like to extend a heartfelt mahalo to the supporters of Kapaa High School Foundation. These grants were made possible because of the many contributions from people who wanted to support the students of Kapaa High School.
