About The Kapaa High School Foundation

The Kapa’a High School Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 1995 by alumni of Kapa’a High School. The Foundation’s mission is to enhance and enrich learning opportunities by providing financial support to students and school programs that foster excellence in academics and extracurricular activities.

THE EARLY DAYS

The brainchild of Kapa’a merchant, Bob Kubota of Pono Market, the Kapa’a High School Foundation was initially established to provide general assistance for programs at Kapa’a High School. The Foundation’s earliest project was by far its most monumental—the construction of the Student Center building across from the Bernice Hundley gymnasium. Early Foundation members, along with people from the community led by project manager Phil Wood, came together to help build the Student Center from the ground up. Since then, the Foundation has promoted scholastic, academic, sports, extracurricular, and other school-related activities for the students of Kapa’a High School. The Kapa’a High School Foundation is a testament to what one dedicated individual can do to improve the lives of people in the community. Bob Kubota knew that raising funds through a foundation would create opportunities for the youth of Kapa’a. Kubota banded together a group of like-minded individuals to support this effort. This founding group understood that an investment in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities would be an investment in the development of our youth by fostering and promoting physical and mental strength, a sense of self-worth and social responsibility.

TODAY AND BEYOND

Today, the Foundation is proud of the programs it supports. It continues to provide grants to graduates bound for institutions of higher learning, and monetary assistance for programs that promote and recognize excellence in students and teachers alike. An integral part of the Foundation’s mission includes a commitment to build community support for Kapa’a High School by partnering with parents, students, teachers, alumnus, and business and community leaders. It is through this partnership that the Foundation has succeeded in becoming a viable part of the school and the community.

Your tax deductible donation to the Foundation will help to make important programs and services available to the students and faculty of Kapa’a High School, including programs such as Senior Student Grants, Project Grad, Outstanding Educator Award, Na Kamali’I O Kauai, JROTC, school athletic programs, Family Summit events, and more.
