The English Language Learners(ELL) class at Kapaa High School spent a night at the Discovery Center at Kokee in February. Organized by ELL teacher Mrs. Florita Rubio, the purpose of the retreat was to teach the students about their island home and the local culture. Comprised of students who are learning English is their second language, some of these student have never been to Kokee or even the west side of Kauai.
The Foundation was able to provide $500 to cover bus transportation and some incidental costs of lodging and food.
ELL class representives Ranny Jay Raza and Dave Warren Feliz attended the March Foundation meeting to report on their retreat activities and to thank the Foundation for the support.
