The Kapaa High School Foundation awarded the Special Olympics Unifed Warrior Club a check of $1500 to support the athletes.   Some members of the 808 Warriors Team  were selected to represent the State of Hawaii in track and field at the 2018 National Summer Games in Seattle, WA this summer.    Mrs. Leona Sa-McDermott, long time Special Olympics volunteer, and Ms Tamarine Carvalho, SPED instructor at Kapaa High School attended the board meeting to request assistance  as they were short about $1500 of their goal of  raising $10,000 to cover costs for uniforms, track cleats, food,  transportation and hotel.

Special Olympics  is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared training and competition experiences.  Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team.  the program is designed to foster friendships and understanding by training and playing together.
