The Kapaa High Foundation presented Future Farmers of America with a check of $2000 to purchase 800# of port for their upcoming kalua pork sale fundraiser.The FFA chapter recently competed in the Kauai District events and   and now have a chance to attend the State Convention at the University of Hawaii Hilo on March 27-29, 2018.

According to Ms Kylie Hashizaki, Natural Resource teacher  at Kapaa High and FFA  Advisor,  Kapaa High School has been without an FFA Chapter for nearly 30 years.  The new program is a classroom course which includes supervised agricultural experiences where students have an opportunity to work with various groups in the agricultual community.   Accotrding to Ms Hashizaki,  the FFA program can be a useful  tool to introduce students to careers in agricultural, but also help students become more informed consumers.
