Advisor Calvin Paleka attended the last Foundation Board meeting in November to thank the Foundation for supporting the Freshmen Service Learning Project.

This year’s 297 freshmen will be participating in service-learning curriculum alongside nine community partners.  The grant of $1800  was used to cover transportation cost to the various work sites.  There are two groups, Hui Onipaa and Hui Ikaika, that work together in projects like beach cleanup,  spending time with Mahelona Hospital long term care patients, and working at Limuhuli Gardens.

This year graduating class of 2018 will be the first class that started this service learning project.
