L-R: Al Garces (Foundation President), Kula Brede, Erin Millard

The 2008 Outstanding Educator Award was presented to math teacher Erin Millard for her extraordinary efforts in teaching, motivating and inspiring her students to learn. Mrs. Millard, a Kapa`a High School graduate herself (class of 2000), was nominated by student Kula Brede in an essay contest that went on to earn Kula a $200 prize. Kula, who was a student in Mrs. Millard’s class, described Mrs. Millard as a “friend, a shoulder to lean on, a role model and most of all a giver.” For her excellence in teaching, Mrs. Millard was awarded $1,000.

Congratulations Mrs. Millard and thank you for helping to shape and prepare our youth for the challenges of tomorrow.
