Kapa’a High School Foundation awards grants to students that demonstrate meaningful community service work.
The Kapa’a High School Foundation will award four grants of $1,000.00 each to Kapa’a High School Class of 2008 students. Awardees shall have demonstrated a high level of meaningful participation in volunteer and community service activities. An applicant will be scored higher if their community service activity was self-conducted rather than done as part of a group. Although a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher is a requirement to apply, academic achievement will not be a consideration for this grant. The grant recipients shall have established acceptance in an accredited or licensed business school, technical school, community college or university.
The Kapa’a High School Foundation was formed in 1995 to support and promote academic, sports and extracurricular activities at Kapa’a High School. The Foundation’s goals are to fund grants and provide financial support for State and National award winning teams, sports programs and capital improvement projects at the school.
Terms of Application for Grants
- The applicant shall be a senior at Kapa’a High School.
- The applicant shall be a citizen of the United Sates and a resident of the State of Hawaii.
- The applicant shall be accepted into an accredited or licensed business school, technical school, community college or university by fall 2008. Acceptance shall be confirmed before award of grant.
- The applicant shall have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
- Applicants must have applied on the form made available through the Kapa’a High School Foundation available at the school counselor’s office or online at the Kapa’a High School website.
Applicants must submit, along with the application form, one letter of recommendation based on community service participation, grade transcript and a one page personal essay as part of the complete application. These documents should be legible, properly sealed and sent with the application form. The documents should not be sent separately. Applicants are encouraged to send applications via certified mail.
