The Kapaa High School Skills USA advisor Ryne Terao and leadership team attended the March Foundation Board meeting to thank the Foundation for the support. They represented Kapaa High School at the statewide Skills USA conference on Oahu and brought home the top two awards in the automotive troubleshooting competition.
Kapaa High Chapter Secretary/Treasurer Kekoa Eisenhour won first place and will be representing Hawaii at the national conference to be held in Louisville, Kentucky. He was awarded a $15000 scholarship to Universal Technical Institute (UTI). Chapter President Cruz Hillstrom took second place and was given a $7500 scholarship to UTI. They both were given $1000 per semester at any Hawaii Community College, and a set of Snap On tools. Hillstrom will be first alternate to the national competition.
Skills USA is a career and technical student organization that provide leadership training in the trade, skilled services and technical field programs. Their goal is to provide quality educational experiences for students in leadership, citizenship, teamwork, and character development.
