The Kapaa High Foundation showed their support for  the new Kapaa High chapter of  Skills USA  with a grant of $500.  Club Advisor Ryne Terao  attended the August  Foundation board meeting to accept the check.

Skills USA is a national non-profit organization that helps prepare students for  trade and technical  careers.  Students who have an interest in   trade careers are encouraged to join.  Besides being exposed to different career choices in the trades, the students are taught about diligence, pride, and respect in the workplace.

Automotive instructor  Terao began his involvement with Skills USA at Kapaa Middle School. He was also served as chairman of the automotive troubleshooting competition held at Leeward Community College.

The grant from the Foundation will be used to purchase official work shirts and dress jackets for members who will represent the Kapaa Chapter in   competition at the State convention.  Mr Terao explained that once the club is started, members will be responsible for fundraising to support their activities.
